I promised a post about my trip to the Democratic National Convention, so here it is.
About two weeks before convention started, Megan texted messaged me asking if I'd be willing to go if she could get tickets to hear Obama speak on Thursday night at Invesco stadium. Not one to pass up historic moments, I said yes. Later, she said she got them and I booked our flights.
Megan also got tickets for Chris W., and Sheryl, so the four of us went together.
Originally, Megan said that someone promised us a free hotel room. When we landed in Denver, we found out that was not true. Because we were in Denver to hear Obama(!), nothing could change our happy moods. We immediately found accommodations at the lovely EconoLodge. It had been recently renovated so it was actually quite nice.
The first night, we walked around downtown which was really busy and energetic. We listened to Biden's speech outside of an MSNBC news. Later, we went dancing at a gay club that was literally next to the EconoLodge. We could not have planned it better!
The next day, we went to breakfast with the Utah delegation to the convention. It was there that we got our tickets--the four of us weren't all sitting together. We waited outside the room where they were handing out tickets and Craig Axford was nice enough to exchange our tickets so we could all be together.
We headed over to the stadium to be early since we didn't have assigned seating. I'm so glad we did because we waited in line for about seven minutes and later learned that some people waited in line for hours! To make the time pass, we went shopping at the multiple stands selling Obama stuff. Even though I thought all the stores sold the same stuff, Chris W. was convinced that each sold different stuff so we stopped at almost every single one... It was the only time on the trip when I got really annoyed.
But I quickly got over it when Jennifer Hudson walked right by me! I was so star struck that I didn't get a picture. This picture is the next best thing:

We also make phone calls to people for Obama reminding them to watch Obama's speech. The list that I used only had old people on it, so naturally, I stopped saying "you can receive text updates from the campaign" on every call.
Speaking of old people, I was interviewed by KSL radio and when I was talking about why I'm supporting Obama, I basically said I'm not voting for McCain because he's old. Oops! I told him not to air that part. ;)
We went back to our seats and started listening to all the speeches. When Obama spoke, he electrified the entire stadium. It was very, very awesome.

After the convention, we had tickets to a very exclusive party whose star guest was then man himself: Barack Obama! Michelle Obama and Joe Biden were also there. They spoke a little and then left, but it was cool to be that close to them. The entire day was great!
The next day, Sheryl flew home, so Megan, Chris and I made a road trip back to Salt Lake City. We had a lot of fun talking, singing, dancing, and looking at Wyoming.
All the pictures from our trip are here and I'll post a video from the trip on another post.
